The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association (CSAAA) was proud to once again participate in the 12th annual Parliamentary Day at the Range, hosted by the Parliamentary Outdoor Caucus in partnership with the Canadian Sports Shooting Association (CSSA).
This annual event gives Members of Parliament, Senators, and their staff a hands-on opportunity to learn more about what responsible firearms ownership in Canada is all about. The event breaks down misconceptions about firearms and educate policymakers on the laws and regulations that law-abiding firearms owners follow every day.
As part of the day’s wide range of activities, CSAAA assisted on the handgun range, helping guide participants, many who were handling a firearm for the very first time, through safe and supervised sport shooting experiences. This event provided a valuable opportunities to build relationships with newly elected MPs and reconnect with returning parliamentarians and members of the Senate.
These connections are essential to CSAAA’s advocacy work. Engaging directly with policymakers allows us to consult on and promote fair, effective, and workable firearms policy that supports our members and the broader hunting and sport-shooting industry and community in Canada.
The Parliamentary Outdoor Caucus plays a critical role in ensuring that the voices of sport shooters, hunters, anglers, and trappers are heard in Parliament. This non-partisan group works across party lines to protect and preserve the outdoor heritage and traditions that are a legitimate way of life and livelihood for many Canadians.
Events like Parliamentary Day at the Range allow for a greater understanding and appreciation for Canada’s legal firearms owners and industry professionals. They also offer lawmakers a firsthand look at the firearms community’s commitment to safety, responsibility, and respectful stewardship of our outdoor heritage.
CSAAA is proud to continue contributing to this important initiative and looks forward to participating again next year.
