With more than half a century dedicated to the hunting and firearms industry, Mike Camele has the passion and dedication that defines a true legend.
Mike began his gunsmith training in the Italian Military in 1965, developing the skills that would guide his lifelong career and inspire generations to come. In 1969, he and his brother opened Italian Sporting Goods, a major part of British Columbia’s firearms community. Over the past 56 years, Mike has worked as a gunsmith, buyer, and sales expert, dedicating the last 25 years primarily to gunsmithing. Even at 80 years old, he remains an active hunter and shooter. .
Beyond his business, Mike has been a pillar of community leadership and conservation. A founding member of the Italian Canadian Rod and Gun Club in 1973, he served as its President for more than 20 years and continues as Honourary President even today. He also helped form the Canadian Hellenic Rod and Gun Club in the 80s and worked extensively with the Upland Game Birds Society to restore Blue Grouse populations in British Columbia’s Cariboo region.
Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, Mike organized fundraising dinners for Ducks Unlimited and the BC Wildlife Federation, and over the years has continued to support countless organizations and causes that protect wildlife and promote responsible hunting.
