Parliamentary Outdoors Caucus Symposium & Parliamentary Range Day

CSAAA was proud to act be a voice for Canadian hunting and firearms businesses in Ottawa Monday and Tuesday at the Parliamentary Outdoors Caucus Symposium and the Parliamentary Range Day.

We discussed and educated on our industry’s challenges with politicians, like-minded organizations and stakeholders. This level of communication is essential as we fight to save these businesses in a harsh political environment.

This was an outstanding opportunity to meet colleagues fighting the same fight and to learn and educate on the challenges the people we represent face.

Impact statements (click here for more information) from members continues to assist our fight as we spoke with MPs at the symposium and as we continue to consult and meet with members of Senate and MPs across Canada.

Something we all became more aware of is the 30 by 30 movement. This will impact outfitters, anglers, hunters, ranges…

This is a movement supported by the Liberal government to “protect” 30% of earth’s surface by 2030. This will prohibit land and sea use change (agriculture mainly, resource extraction) and the harvest off plants and animals (hunting, fishing, foraging).

Land closures are already happening without notice or consultation – 17% of Canada currently. CSAAA will be monitoring this and proving updates.

CSAAA board members, industry members and CSAAA representatives volunteered again for 10th Annual Parliamentary Range Day hosted by CSSA at Stittsville Shooting Range was a huge success. Over 100 MPs, Senators and staffers from all political backgrounds had the opportunity to experience Canadian firearm culture.

This is the annual non-partisan event enjoyed by many members of Parliament and we were confident that everyone left with a greater understanding and appreciation for the firearm industry.
